What if I could change my career path?
What if I could become an entrepreneur? What if I could gain financial freedom? What if my dreams could come true?
And the list goes on and on and on……”
How many times in your life have you said out loud what you are thinking or wishing for or even how you imagine your life to look like and you hear this response;
“keep dreaming”
Well I can tell you that I have heard it quite a number of times!
We hear this so often that we begin to accept it as a fact. But I tell you what, everything we see today, airplanes, electricity and internet or even the kind of freedom we enjoy today – you name it – were once dreams and imaginations of someone.

Imagine for a moment and ask yourself this question; “what if all these people had given up on their dreams?!…”
I can’t even begin to imagine it myself!
This therefore means that it is alright to dream because every reality was once a dream that did not just remain so. We can all make our dreams a reality. Whether it’s to change your circumstance, go skydiving, loose weight, get a degree or gain financial freedom.
The late, great Napoleon Hill, an author, and pioneer in the new thought movement, famously said, “a goal is a dream with a deadline.” He taught that by taking proactive actions, we could overcome limitations and consciously create happy, fulfilling realities for ourselves.
Now let me share with you in this series some moves which I’m pretty sure if followed can help change any circumstance and make your dreams come true.
We shall now refer to those dreams as goals.

First step to financial freedom – Identify and Define your goals
The first step to turning your thoughts to actions is identifying goals. The beginning stages of a new call to action are exciting; inspiration strikes, possibilities seem endless, and ideas are popping up left and right.
– Start turning your thoughts into an action plan by getting these ideas on paper. Just brainstorm at first, writing down every single idea that you have; good or seemingly bad. Once they’re all out, look for common themes that can help you define a few long-term goals.

Step two – Make a plan
The next step to turning your thoughts to reality is to create a plan based on proactive actions. To begin your action plan, choose one of your long-term goals and break it up into smaller milestone goals.
– For instance, if your long-term goal is to lose 10kg, your milestones may be to lose 2kg per month for five consecutive months.
– Next, create a list of tasks necessary to reach your first milestone. Be sure to assign each task a deadline. Some tasks associated with the weight loss example might be to go to the gym for 20 minutes a day, for 12 days in the first month. Another task might be to look up healthy recipes online and to create a one-month menu plan.
Step three to financial freedom – Identify obstacles
Step three is to identify the challenges and obstacles that could prevent you from turning your dreams into reality. By identifying potential challenges in advance, you can more effectively take proactive actions to assist you in overcoming limitations.
For example, if your goal is to lose 15kg and you’ve identified Friday happy hours as a possible obstacle, you can make a plan with a colleague to take a walk with you when you would typically consume extra calories in the form of wine or beer. Just make sure you are not going towards the direction of your favourite bar with the happy hours👀
Step four to financial freedom – Take a moment to reflect on what you’ve accomplished
Lastly, it’s important to celebrate your victories. Recognizing the accomplishment of your milestone goals will give you the encouragement you need to keep to reach for the next. And, celebrating the achievement of your long-term goal will provide you with the confidence in your ability to consciously create your reality, and you’ll be more likely to pursue another one of your goals.
Just be sure that you don’t celebrate your milestone goals in such a way that sabotage or delays the attainment of your long-term goal. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, don’t celebrate weight loss with chocolate cake. 🙂
Learning these steps without putting pressure on yourself and so much more that I am going to be sharing with you will definitely produce positive results in helping to bring to reality your dreams and in this case gaining financial freedom.
